Learning Objectives

The Social Work program seeks to prepare generalist social workers with the following specific skills and intellectual abilities:
• Prepare students for entry-level practice;
• Acquire a generic framework of knowledge, values and skills to prepare them for employment in the field;
• Learn and uphold the values of the social work profession;
• Understand social work systems theory with emphasis on the development of intervention skills with individuals, families and groups, organizations and communities;
• Critically assess social welfare history and policy, with emphasis on policy development and evaluation;
