Greg Reid, BSW 1997

Current Occupation:
Regional Manager, Mental Health Crisis Response
Winnipeg Regional Health Authority

What My Job Entails:
Management of Mental Health Crisis Response Services for the Winnipeg Health Region, including the Adult Mobile Crisis Service, Two Crisis Stabilization Units, the Brief Treatment Service, and the Community Trauma Team. I continue to be involved in the Regional Crisis Response Initiative, working toward a more integrated and seamless service system for individuals experiencing mental health crises.

Why I chose Social Work:
I have always enjoyed helping others. While growing up, I was taught that it is a responsibility of all participants of society to participate by helping others. I continue to believe that we are all one unfortunate circumstance away from requiring that same assistance ourselves.

What I like about my Major:
I like the fact that Social Workers play a role across all the sectors of the service system, and at many different levels. There are so many areas where Social Workers impact people's lives. I continue to enjoy the opportunity to work in a multi-disciplinary environment, and in my current role enjoy providing leadership to Social Workers and other healthcare professionals. My education at Booth College provided me with a solid academic and practical foundation for my career as a Social Worker. I have continued to benefit from my experience at Booth as I have grown in my career as a Social Worker.
