September Cometh
I suppose none of us are too eager to think about it. Summer vacations are just getting underway, the Fringe Festival is on, the beach beckons. But things are humming here at the College to get ready for the fall. Our new Director of Student Services is Tenley Wiens. She is hard at work preparing a new year of experiences for Booth students. The new Registrar is Anita Ratnam. She and her team throughout the College have been busy implementing a new Student Information System that will, before too long, provide on-line access to a range of services for students. The construction teams have been on site putting in the new Social Work Lab on the second floor (adjacent to classroom C) and the new film viewing lab in the basement (next to the gym). You'll also notice a welcoming new presence as you enter the College. All of the student services have been consolidated into a front desk environment - so you can get whatever you need without wandering around the building.
Two new faculty members are now on site, Dr. Allyna Ward (English) and Dr. Sherrie Steiner (Sociology). Welcome! The fall is shaping up as one of our largest groups of students in memory, so I'm hoping things will really be buzzing around here. But for now, forget all of that and go to the beach.
