Finding books in the library
Search the online
catalogue by author, title, subject, keyword, or prof's
name.
Tips on keyword searching can be found here.
Once you've found a book, you may have a few questions.
The catalogue gives a location, but where
is this in the library?
Using the location given in the catalogue record, look at
this map
to determine where the item(s) will be found in the library.
If the location does not say WCBC or Booth, the item belongs
to one of our partner libraries.
I have the call number, now what?
Booth Library uses Library of Congress call numbers, as does
the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba.
This is a series of numbers and letters usually found on a
white label on the spine (side) of library books and other
materials. It tells where the item is on the shelf.

Did you know that you can search the collections
of all these libraries from our own catalogue?
There are two ways:
- From any page of results, change the location you are
searching to "View entire collection". Then, simply click
on the search button again and the system will now bring
up items belonging to any of these other institutions as
well as our own.
- From the Advanced Search page, type in the keywords you
are looking for and make sure that the Location selector
says "ANY".
You can also search the libraries of Providence
College and the University
of Manitoba.
