Tracy and Darryl Parsons

Tracy Parsons, BA Biblical & Theological Studies 1992
and
Darryl Parsons, BA Christian Ministries 1995

Darryl and Tracy met at Booth College in 1990. Darryl was arriving for his first year and Tracy was in her third. Tracy went on to graduate in 1992 with a B.A. in Biblical & Theological Studies and Darryl in 1995 with a B.A. in Christian Ministries. They were married in 1993 and celebrated 15 years together in August.

When thinking about their lives together the song “Life Is A Highway” comes to Tracy’s mind because they have traveled down many of them. Following Darryl’s graduation they moved to Newfoundland where Darryl worked as a youth pastor. In 1996, their first child, Daniel, was born and they moved to Vancouver Island where they stayed until moving to Kelowna, BC in 1999 where their second Child, Joshua, was born. In 2000 they made the huge leap from the BC interior to Lancaster, Pennsylvania to open a youth drop in center with The Salvation Army. During their time in P.A. they were able to attend the International Congress in Atlanta and their third child, Faith, was born in 2001.

In 2002 they decided to return to Canada and landed in Peterborough, ON where they currently live and hope to stay. For three years Darryl was Youth/Associate Pastor at Auburn Bible Chapel before making a major move into broadcasting.

“It was quite an adventure to start working with Kaos Radio,” Darryl said. “But God did bless me with a profound love for the sound of my own voice.” All kidding aside there was a lot a ways in which his previous experience prepared him for the challenges of broadcasting. Darryl progressed through various levels of responsibility eventually becoming Program Director. Unfortunately, working for an independent Christian radio station is not always a profitable venture and the station was forced off air in May of 2008 and the future is still uncertain. Despite this, both Darryl and Tracy look forward to the future with a great deal of optimism.

Tracy, for the most part has been a stay-at-home mom, taking on various roles wherever they have worked and is now employed as a Personal Support Worker in a group home for developmentally challenged adults. They have seen many places, experienced many things, and have seen their faith grow deeply through them all. Life is far from boring and the highway still has many miles to go. Their oldest son Daniel is on the brink of his teenage years. That’s a whole separate trip that Tracy has been mentally preparing herself for.
