Bill & Cathy Cole

1. What year and with what degree did you graduate from Booth College?

Cathy graduated in 1995 with joint Bachelor of Theology / Bachelor of Arts Degrees.  Bill finished the second year of a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1996.

2. What have you been doing since?  Now?

In 1996, they were married and moved to Calgary, AB where they were employed by Glenmore Temple as Youth Pastors.  In 1998 they returned to Winnipeg and opened St. Vital Community Center (Multi-Cultural Family Center).  They held various roles with The Salvation Army until Bill left in 1999 and Cathy in 2003.

Since 2003 Cathy has been a stay at home mom to their three children…Chloe (11 yrs old); Will (6 yrs old); Jack (4 yrs old).  Currently, Bill serves as Vice-President and Chief Marketing Officer with the Quick Group of Companies in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He has previously served as General Manager, Division Manager and Account Executive over the last 10 years.

They are both active in their church family, Southlands Community Church.  They both serve on the Church Board.  Cathy is also part of the Caregiver ministry and part of the Kids Quest (Sunday School) teaching team and Bill is the Director of Business Affairs.;

3. What are your hobbies?

Cathy likes to sew, read and complete house renovations.  Bill enjoys reading, watching Nascar, his annual hunting trip and spending time outside.

4. Any special achievements, awards etc?

Bill received the Winnipeg Exemplary Citizen of the Year award in 1999.

5. Favourite Quote or Bible Verse

Cathy discovered her favourite verse during  College days and it continues to be her favourite…Philippians 3.8 reads, “What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things.  I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ…”

Bill’s favorite quote is from James Collins book Good to Great that states “Greatness is not a function of circumstance.  Greatness is a matter of conscious choice.” His favorite Bible passage is Romans 12:1-3 “So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” (The Message)

6.  Highlight of your time at Booth?

Cathy has two highlights of her time at College.  The first was having four years of studying God’s word.  Looking back over the 14 years since she graduated, life has become very busy and often her study of God’s word has competed with many other commitments, often to lose to them. She is now able to recognize what a treasure those four years of dedicated study were   The second highlight was meeting Bill and the continued seeking of God’s direction for their lives together.

Bill’s highlights include the cherished friendships that were shaped and still exist today.  He also recognizes how God has used his time at Booth College to be instrumental in shaping his current life, especially his marriage to Cathy and 3 wonderful children.
